Fujian and Luang Prabang Hold Webinar on Chinese Modernization

A webinar on Chinese modernization and practice of subnational exchange between Fujian and Luang Prabang took place on April 7. Lin Ruiliang, Vice Governor of Fujian, Bounlem Manivong, Deputy Governor of Luang Prabang, Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong, and Lao Consul General in Guangzhou Vanhpheng Saisomphou attended the event.

 

 

Vice Governor Lin noted that the webinar will contribute to the building of the China-Laos community with a shared future. He hoped both provinces will deepen exchange of political theories, enhance cooperation in agriculture, culture and tourism, and strengthen sister-city interactions to jointly advance development of both provinces.

 

 

Vice Governor Bounlem Manivong appreciated Fujian’s assistance in the fight against the epidemic. He highlighted the fruitful results from close cooperation in various fields since the establishment of the sister relationship, and invited Fujian businesses to invest in Luang Prabang with the opening of the China-Laos railway.

 

Ambassador Jiang shared his understanding of Chinese modernization in his speech, calling on both provinces to deepen ties by taking building the China-Laos community with a shared future and the Global Civilization Initiative as an opportunity. Consul General Vanhpheng Saisomphou expressed the desire to promote vocational education cooperation between the two sides.

 

 

At the webinar, experts and scholars from both provinces exchanged views and practices on developing international engagement at the subnational level. Academies of governance from both provinces signed an MOU on theoretical exchange.
