Diplomatic envoys attended the international cultural event “Understand Chinese Civilization: Retracing Maritime Silk Road” held in Fujian from March 25 to 28, 2023.

On March 25, shortly after the launching ceremony, Zhang Yan, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, met with the envoys and journalists in Fuzhou. After giving an update on Fujian’s development, Zhang said that thanks to its unique culture and core position on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, the province is poised to be a pacesetter in high-level opening up and global engagement.

Fijian Ambassador Manasa Ralawa Tagicakibau underscored the importance placed by president Xi Jinping on Fujian to revitalize the Maritime Silk Road, which played an important role in advancing Chinese civilization to the outside world, and assisting in building a peaceful, harmonious society. The ambassador also recalled the many success stories emanating from the strong partnership between Fujian and the respective countries based on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road platform. He concluded with a hope of learning more about the history, and contributing more to high quality development for both sides.

Diplomatic envoys, as well as Chinese and foreign media representatives, also visited Zhangzhou and Quanzhou cities during their Fujian trip.
