On July 15, Zhou Lianqing, Party Secretary and Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Fujian Provincial People’s Congress, met with Karol Cariola Oliva, Speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, in Fuzhou.

Zhou briefed the Chilean delegation on Fujian’s latest social and economic progress. He said that Fujian will act on the consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chilean leaders by beefing up engagement with Chile in legislation, trade, technology, industry, and culture for win-win results.

Cariola underlined Chile’s firm adherence to the one-China principle. The Speaker hoped her visit will help boost cooperation and strengthen ties for the benefit of the two peoples.

The meeting was also attended by Lin Baojin, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Fujian Provincial People’s Congress.
