From July 27 to 30, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) organized the Tour of Winter Olympics Sites in Beijing and Zhangjiakou by European Youth in China, which was participated by around 60 youths from 17 European countries. Some of the British, Italian and French international students and faculty in Fujian were invited to join the Tour.
After visiting sites such as the headquarter of the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Big Air Shougang, National Alpine Skiing Centre, National Sliding Centre, National Ski Jumping Centre, which exemplify the vision of “green, inclusive, open and clean” Games, participants learnt more about how hosting the Games is bringing winter sports closer to the public.
Before the Tour concluded, 10 representatives shared their impressions. Jean-Baptiste, a French student from Fujian Normal University also contributed to the discussion. After appreciating the opportunity and considerate arrangement offered by the CPAFFC and Fujian Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, he said that the National Ski Jumping Centre is well designed and constructed in an impressive way, and that the designs of venues, which he felt very lucky to see with his own eyes, embody Chinese government’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. He believed that Beijing, which is shaping up to be the first city to have hosted both Summer and Winter Olympics, will deliver success next year.
