At the invitation of Chinese Embassy in Russia, an 11-memeber delegation comprising journalists from Russian mainstream media such as RTR, TASS, Arguments and Fact and Chinese studies experts were in Fujian from November 12 to 14. Accompanied by Fan Xianrong, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, they visited Xiamen and Fuzhou to learn more about President Xi Jinping’s tenure in Fujian and how his governance delivered tangible benefits to local people and boosted local development.

In Xiamen, the journalists talked with Vice Mayor Huang Qiang, and learned how Xiamen, following the blueprint outlined by President Xi, had quickly transformed into a beautiful, open, and innovative garden city with robust economic growth, upgraded industries and strong entrepreneurship.

In Fuzhou, they interviewed Vice Mayor Hang Dong, who introduced Fuzhou’s measures in deepening all-round opening-up by harnessing the favorable policies granted by the central government, including the core area of Maritime Silk Road and the pilot free trade area.

During their stay in Fujian, the delegation also visited a number of sites, such as Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal, Xiamen International Cruise Terminal, Fuyao Glass and Fuzhou Municipal Public Service Center, and saw with their own eyes Fujian’s bustling economy, dynamic private sector and convenient public services.

This year marks the 70th anniversaries of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. This is the first time for Russian mainstream media to come to China to report specifically on the places where President Xi worked. By touring around these places, they gained a better understanding of the background of President Xi’s important thoughts. Satisfied with this rewarding and informative trip, the experts and journalists promised to present China’s development through their pens and lenses and promote friendship between the two peoples.
