A 9-member Davao media delegation of the Philippines visited Fuzhou, Quanzhou, and Ningde cities of Fujian Province on November 2 to 4 at the invitation of the Chinese Consulate General in Davao.

In Gutian County of Ningde City, through visits to Minfu Center--an e-commerce entrepreneurial park of edible fungus, industrialized cultivation project of tremella, export companies, Gutian Edible Fungus Museum and Edible Fungus Research Institute, they got to know the practice and experience in increasing local farmers’ income and boosting industrial development focusing on edible fungus. Meanwhile, they had discussions with the Industrial Bureau of Edible Fungus in Gutian on how to make the industry bigger and stronger and increase export to the Philippines. In Fuzhou, the delegation visited Fuzhou Municipal Public Service Center and tried Fudao skywalk, an overhead footpath built among forest in Fuzhou.

During their stay in Fujian, Luo Guansheng, a leader of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office met with the delegation. He gave them an introduction on Fujian’s latest economic and social developments and the historical and cultural bonds between Fujian and the Philippines. He hoped that the media can serve as a bridge in presenting a true picture of developing Fujian to Filipinos so as to deepen people-to-people exchange and mutual understanding. Dakudao Michaelangelo, head of the delegation and a journalist from Mindanao Journal believed that this visit had helped them get a better knowledge of the people-to-people and cultural links between the two sides as well as Fujian’s economic development and poverty alleviation efforts through industrial development. He looked forward to closer ties between the two sides.
