The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Organizes Diplomatic Envoys to Visit Fujian

From July 13 to 17, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized diplomatic envoys to visit Fujian. Ambassadors of Laos, Nepal, Albania, Oman, Somalia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mauritius, Samoa, and Tonga to China, and senior diplomats from Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Nigeria and Denmark attended the tour, accompanied by Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo.

 

Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Fujian Provincial Committee and Governor of Fujian Province Wang Ning met with the delegation. He said that President Xi Jinping put forward an important series of forward-looking and strategic concepts and practices during his tenure in Fujian. In recent years, Fujian has made positive achievements in deeply implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and coordinating economic development and heritage conservation, which resulted in great economic vitality, a better ecological environment, strong and effective cultural and natural heritage protection and a higher level of opening-up. Fujian is willing to enhance economic and trade cooperation, as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges with all countries, and advance deep and substantive Belt and Road cooperation.

 

Special Representative Wu Hongbo said that with the great vision of President Xi Jinping, Fujian has made remarkable progress in the reform and opening-up, the development of modernization and ecological civilization, and the inheritance of cultural quintessence, representing the leading role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in China's development in the new era. China's development will provide more opportunities for all countries, and make a greater contribution to human civilization. He hopes that the envoys will have a deeper understanding of the development of Fujian and the CPC, and have a true, multi-dimensional, and panoramic view of China through this tour.

During the their stay in Fujian, the envoys visited a themed exhibition of poverty alleviation in Ningde, and Xiaqi Village, Lianjia boat people's settlement site, to look into the result of China's poverty alleviation; inspected the ecological governance of Yundang Lake to exchange the experience of ecological conservation; visited Gulangyu, a UNESCO world cultural heritage, to experience local people's lives featuring the mix of Chinese and Western culture; visited a microelectronics enterprise to understand the rapid development of China's scientific and technological innovation industries; visited Hakka ancestral halls in Yongding earth buildings of Longyan city to understand cultural heritage conservation and the inheritance of family education and family values; visited Gutian Conference Memorial Hall and the site of Gutian Conference to have a better understanding of the arduous exploration in the early days of the CPC and the landmark significance of Gutian Conference to the people's army; visited Quanzhou Maritime Museum and Quanzhou Intangible Culture Heritage Museum to experience the historical and cultural significance of the city at the starting point of the Ancient Silk Road, and understand the Belt and Road Initiative from a historical perspective; visited Fuzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Hall to understand the urban ecological development and historical and cultural inheritance and conservation; and attended the opening ceremony of the 44th Session of the World Heritage Committee at invitation.

 

The envoys offered warm congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and spoke highly of the high-quality development achievements in Fujian. They expressed great appreciation of the tremendous efforts Fujian has made in the development of ecological civilization, poverty alleviation and cultural heritage conservation, and the admiration for the important development concepts proposed by President Xi Jinping during his tenure in Fujian and their implications. They said that in order to have a better understanding of China, one has to understand the CPC and its history. The CPC's efforts in making the decision of uniting the Chinese people and Red Army at Gutian Conference, lifting people out of poverty, advancing ecological progress and protecting cultural heritage, represent its governing concept of putting the people first. The envoys expressed their willingness to promote close communication between Fujian and all countries and earnest expectation of expanding cooperation with Fujian under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
