Myanmar Journalists Visit Fujian

A delegation of 12 journalists from Myanmar visited Fuzhou, Zhangzhou and Xiamen cities of Fujian province from June 24 to 28 at the invitation of Fujian Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) and Consulate-General of China in Mandalay, Myanmar. 

During the visit, FAO Associate Counselor Luo Guansheng briefed the members on Fujian’s achievements in the past 40 years since the reform and opening up and its exchanges and cooperation with Myanmar. It is hoped that the real Fujian will be presented to the people of Myanmar through their articles and video footage, thus boosting understanding, friendship, and cooperation between the two sides. 

The delegation, headed by Khin Maung Cho, President of Photography Association of Mandalay, is composed of journalists from Mandalay Today, The Friday Times, The Mirror, The New Light of Myanmar, Democratic Voice of Burma, and Eleven Media Group as well as famous writers and a puppet show performer.  

In Fuzhou, the delegation visited China National Engineering Research Center of JUNCAO Technology. Professor Lin Zhanxi expounded on developments in JUNCAO (grass for growing fungi) cultivation and the feasibility and prospect of JUNCAO for poppy replacement, which impressed and struck a chord with the delegation members. They also visited Junmen Community and experienced Fuzhou’s rich history and culture when touring Three Lanes and Seven Alleys and Gushan Mountain. 

In Zhangzhou, the delegates visited Source - Ecological Agriculture Corporation in Nanjing County to learn the management experience and practices of modern agriculture.  

In Xiamen, they were deeply impressed by BRT, Xiamen Planning Exhibition Hall, 3D computer-aided design technology and Gulangyu Island. 

  Upon ending this journey, Mr. Khin, head of the delegation expressed his appreciation to FAO for the thoughtful arrangements. The delegates have learned the tremendous achievements that China has made since reform and opening up and were inspired by Fujian’s experience in urban development, community management and improving people’s wellbeing. They will deliver their first-hand experience to the people of Myanmar to enhance China-Myanmar friendship.
