A delegation of Fujian officials, headed by Fujian FAO Associate Councillor Luo Guansheng, embarked on a 10-day training trip to Japan on July 4.

Sponsored by Fujian FAO and Sasakawa Peace Foundation, the program on rural revitalization has attracted township officials from cities including Zhangzhou, Quanzhou, Sanming, Nanping, Longyan, and Ningde.

Lectures, seminars and field visits in Tokyo and Tottori provided the officials with an opportunity to gain a full understanding of Japan’s measures to revitalize its rural areas and build beautiful countryside.

A wide range of topics were covered, such as placemaking, town planning, rural governance, industry development, social security, prevention and control of pollution, and preservation and development of culture.

The eye-opening and instructive trip improved the participants’ capacity and enhanced bilateral communication, the officials said.

The exchange program is another example of the successful cooperation between Fujian FAO and Sasakawa Peace Foundation following the community-level officials exchange program. Township officials from other cities in Fujian are expected to enroll in the program in the next three years.
