On January 9, Vice Governor Guo Ningning met with the Polish Ambassador to China Wojciech Zajaczkowski and his delegation in Fuzhou.

Guo welcomed Zajaczkowski on his first visit to Fujian and updated him on Fujian’s latest economic and social development. She said that China and Poland enjoy a time-honored friendship. With growing economic and trade interactions in recent years, Fujian and Poland have a huge potential for future trade and investment. Located at the crossroads of Eurasian continent, Poland is an important hub of the Silk Road with unique geographical advantages, thus playing an important role in China-Europe trade.

As Fujian moves faster in building the core area of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, it is ready to further expand trade and economic cooperation with Poland by establishing trade platforms, developing new business forms such as cross-border e-commerce, deepening cooperation in key areas including agriculture, auto parts, machinery, and electronics, and facilitating import and export of featured products. Fujian will further strengthen connectivity with Poland, ensure smooth China-Europe freight train service, and lower logistics costs in an effort to create a more convenient business environment for companies of both sides. It will also work closer with sister province and enhance people-to-people exchanges and tourism cooperation with Poland.

Zajaczkowski underscored Fujian’s importance in China’s economy and its leading role in investment cooperation with Poland. Poland places high priority on its exchanges and cooperation with Fujian across the board, and is ready to strengthen connectivity and expand investment and trade between the two sides under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative, 16+1 cooperation, and the cooperation mechanisms between China and the EU. He suggested that Fujian participate in the sideline activities of China-Poland high-level visits and step up sub-national exchanges and cooperation with Poland.

Zhan Zhijie, Deputy Secretary General of the provincial government, and Wang Tianming, Director General of Fujian Foreign Affairs Office, attended the meeting.

During his stay in Fujian, Zajaczkowski also visited Xiamen and gave an exclusive interview with Fujian Media Group.
