Invited by the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, a 70-member delegation, led by Malu Dreyer, the Minister-President of Rheinland-Pfalz, visited Fujian from October 10 to 13.

On October 11, Secretary Yu Weiguo and Governor Tang Dengjie met with Minister-President Malu Dreyer. On behalf of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Fujian Provincial People’s Government, Yu welcomed Dreyer and her delegation. He said Fujian stands ready to explore new opportunities and expand cooperation with Rheinland-Pfalz, and  jointly contribute to the implementation of President Xi and Chancellor Merkel’s consensus on “deepening China-Germany cooperation to set an example of win-win cooperation for the world”.

Dreyer expressed her delight to pay a second visit to Fujian and commended Fujian’s achievements in social and economic development. Both Yu and Dreyer were satisfied with the progress Fujian and Rheinland-Pfalz had made over the past 30 years in conducting exchanges and cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, science and technology, culture, education, and environmental protection, and in deepening friendship between the two peoples. Both noted the broad space for future cooperation and reached the understanding on closer sister partnership for more tangible benefits.

Following the meeting, Governor Tang Dengjie and Minister-President  Dreyer signed a Memorandum of Understanding for educational cooperation.

While in Fujian, the delegation also visited Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), Fujian Preschool Education College, Fuzhou No. 3 High School and Fuzhou Foreign Language School, and witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents between schools from both sides.
