Polish Consul General in Shanghai visits Fujian

Marek Ciesielczuk, Polish Consul General in Shanghai, led a delegation of four to Fujian between December 10 and 13.

 

On the afternoon of December 11, Vice Governor Guo Ningning met with the delegation and briefed on the social and economic development of Fujian province. She said, as a province with abundant mountainous and marine resources and rich and profound culture, Fujian boasts a number of UNESCO world cultural and natural heritage sites. Over the past four decades of reform and opening up, Fujian has made tremendous economic progress, with its economic aggregate, per capita GDP, and GDP growth rate ranking among the top in China. Efforts in ecological conservation have created a good balance between a beautiful environment and high-quality economic development in Fujian. The central government sets great store by Fujian’s development. A series of favorable policies have been piloted and practiced in Fujian, bringing Fujian historic opportunities for fast-track development. Guo looked forward to closer cooperation with Poland in infrastructure, transportation, logistics, and machinery manufacturing for more balanced trade. Exchanges in culture, tourism, sister city/province relationship were also expected to be enhanced for stronger cultural cooperation and people-to-people ties.

 

Consul General Ciesielczuk said that Poland is one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with China, as well as the first CEE country to join the Belt and Road Initiative. The two countries have a long history of fruitful exchanges. Poland is similar to Fujian province in terms of area, population and geographical position. The two sides share strong complementarity and potential for cooperation. On the occasion of the Pomorskie Region trade and investment promotion hosted in Fujian, he wished to better present the potential and opportunities of Poland and Pomorskie Voivodeship to Fujian people and promote trade and people-to-people exchanges. The Polish Consulate General in Shanghai will do more to encourage Polish enterprises to attend the economic and trade fairs and expos in Fujian.

 

Zhang Zhijie, Deputy Secretary General of Fujian Provincial People’s Government, and Wang Tianming, Director General of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, were present.

 

During his stay in Fujian, Consul General Ciesielczuk attended the Discover Poland·Pomorskie Region Trade and Investment Opportunities Seminar co-hosted by Pomoskie Voivodeship China Office, CCPIT Fujian Sub-Council, and Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, and participated in the 1st Consumer Goods Sourcing Fair and Commercial District (Pedestrian Streets) Expo.
