Asian Museums Forum Held Online

On July 13, the Asian Musuems Forum was held online, bringing together 25 museums and over 50 experts and scholars from China, ASEAN, Japan and ROK.
Co-hosted by Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration, this forum was convened under the theme “Seeking the Imprint of the Silk Road”.
In his opening remarks, Lin Shouqin, Deputy Director-General of Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said that as a starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, Fujian has witnessed close exchanges with Asian countries and beyond, leaving rich imprints, relics and cultural wealth of the Maritime Silk Road. On behalf of the host, he proposed for stepped-up cooperation in publicity and digitization of cultural heritage and professional exchanges among museums.
Wu Zhiyue, Chief Curator of the Fujian Museum, delivered a keynote speech, sharing experience on the joint exhibition of Maritime Silk Road artefacts. Officials and curators from Indonesia, Japan, ROK, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand also made presentations of local cultural and museum resources and compared notes on cultural heritage preservation, exhibition, and research.
During the forum, a signing ceremony was held for cooperation agreements between Fujian and six museums across Asia.
