Luo Guangsheng, member of the Leading Party Members Group of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and Executive Vice President of Fujian Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, attended the Singapore National Day Reception hosted by Singapore Consulate-General in Xiamen on August 26.

In his speech, Luo noted the deep historical links, close business and people-to-people ties, and fruitful practical cooperation between Fujian and Singapore. He said, Singapore is the largest ASEAN investor in Fujian. Last year, the total imports and exports between Fujian and Singapore registered a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. As the 20th National Congress of the CPC approaches, Fujian will remain committed to advancing high-quality and leapfrog development on all fronts and pursuing greater opening-up at a high level. Companies from Singapore and other countries are welcome to expand investment in Fujian. Fujian Foreign Affairs Office is ready to work with the Consulate-General to scale new heights in the exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Singapore.

Nelson Ng Chiun Ming, Consul General of Singapore to Xiamen, said that China has been Singapore’s biggest trading partner since 2013, and Singapore has been China’s largest source of foreign investment for the past eight years. Over the years, the two countries have enjoyed sound cooperation in trade, investment, port operation, aerospace maintenance, city planning, services, education and healthcare. Singapore looks forward to participating in Fujian’s next phase of development, strengthening connectivity with Fujian, and discussing further cooperation in green and digital economy.

Vice Mayor Zhuang Rongliang of Xiamen and consul generals of Thailand and the Philippines also attended the reception.
