A delegation led by Phan Dinh Trac, a member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Secretariat and Chairman of the Commission for Internal Affairs of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, visited Fujian from November 13 to 15.
On November 13, Secretary Zhou Zuyi met with the delegation in Fuzhou. Zhou gave the visiting officials a brief overview of Fujian, and highlighted the province’s role in pursuing modernization and boosting cooperation with Vietnam and the wider global community through further reform and opening-up. Zhou underscored Fujian’s historical links and close engagement with Vietnam, and called on both sides to work on past successes to deliver on the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, consolidate traditional friendship, and scale up exchanges and cooperation across the board for mutual learning and shared progress.
Trac celebrated Fujian’s latest economic and social gains, and hoped to sustain common development by ramping up cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and broadening cooperation across various sectors such as trade, tourism, and agricultural products. Specifically, Trac encouraged Fujian business community to beef up investment in Vietnamese automotive, high-tech, and port-based processing industries, and called for more measures to facilitate the import of high-quality farm produce from Vietnam.
The delegation visited Fuzhou and Xiamen to learn about General Secretary Xi Jinping’s major visions and practices in promoting economic and social progress, ecological conservation, cultural heritage preservation, and digitization drive during his tenures in Fujian.
