Overview 

Oregon is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the north by Washington, on the south by California, on the east by Idaho, and on the southeast by Nevada. Oregon was inhabited by many indigenous tribes before Western traders, explorers, and settlers arrived. An autonomous government was formed in the Oregon Country in 1843, the Oregon Territory was created in 1848, and Oregon became the 33rd state on February 14, 1859. Today, Oregon is the ninth largest and 27th most populous U.S. state. 

Economy 

Oregon GDP in 2014 totaled 203.79 billion USD, up by 3.57%. Agriculture, forestry, high-tech and tourism are the four pillar industries. In terms of agriculture, the state is a leading producer of peppermint, blackberries, boysenberries, loganberries, black raspberries, and hazelnuts. It is also a leading provider of lumber in the United States, and has one of the largest salmon-fishing industries in the world. Many large corporations have made Oregon their world or regional headquarters, such as Nike, Adidas, Mentor Graphics Corporation, etc. High technology industries located in Silicon Forest have been a major employer in Oregon since the 1970s, withTektronix and Intel as the largest for-profit private employers. 

Total Oregon goods and services exports to China in 2014 were worth US$ 4 billion. 

Sister Relationship 

On 25 September 1984, Mr. Hu Ping, Governor of Fujian and the Hon. Victor Atiyeh, Governor of Oregon, signed the Agreement to establish the Sister Province Relationship. Since then, Fujian and Oregon have maintained frequent exchanges of high-level visits and had fruitful cooperation in the fields of business, science and technology, culture, education, etc. In 2014, Fujian and Oregon won the 2014 U.S.-China Sister Cities Awards in the category of Best Overall.
