Zhou Zuyi and Zhao Long Meet with Ghanaian President John Mahama

On October 15, Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Fujian Provincial People’s Congress, met with Ghanaian President John Mahama in Fuzhou. Zhao Long, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Governor of Fujian Province, attended the meeting.
Zhou highlighted the increasingly closer exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Ghana in recent years. He said, this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Ghana and the 10th anniversary of the sister province relationship between Fujian Province and the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. He hoped that President Mahama’s visit will serve as an opportunity for the two sides to expand digital cooperation, deepen business exchanges, boost people-to-people ties, and integrate into high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, so as to enhance people-to-people understanding and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
President Mahama said that Ghana and Fujian share many commonalities. He expressed the hope to foster stronger ties with Fujian via this visit, deepen exchanges and cooperation in industrial manufacturing, digital economy, tourism, shipping, urban planning, and city development, attract more businesses from Fujian to invest and thrive in Ghana, and bring the friendly relations to a new height.
Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Tong Defa, and provincial leaders Wu Xielin and Lin Ruiliang also attended the meeting.
