Co-hosted by Okinawa Prefectural Government, Okinawa Industry Promotion Public Corporation and Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Fifth Fujian College EISA Championship Tournament kicked off in Fuzhou’s Three Lanes and Seven Alleys on November 17. This year, Yango University, Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College and Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade took part in the competition for the first time apart from the five traditional teams from Fujian Normal University, Huaqiao University, Fuzhou University, Minjiang University and FNU Concord University College.

The teams infused Eisa with traditional Chinese elements such as Chinese-style accompaniment, costume, martial arts and dance, and created their own versions of Eisa with distinctive characteristics. In the end, Fujian Normal University’s Minliu team won the first place with solid basic skills and outstanding choreography, followed by FNU Concord University College and Minjiang University. The tournament was concluded with a powerful traditional Eisa show by a guest team from Okinawa.

Popular among university students in Fujian for its energy and power, Eisa has become a special cultural activity promoting exchanges between youngsters in Fujian and Okinawa.
