Chinese, Brazilian Cities Seek to Strengthen Ties and Cooperation

An online dialogue, organized by the Chinese Consulate General in Recife, Brazil, took place on August 12 to mark the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil and the upcoming National Chinese Immigration Day in Brazil. Chinese Consul General Yan Yuqing, Deputy Director General Huang Shaorong of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, as well as other representatives of five pairs of established or prospective sister provinces from both countries attended the event.

 

In his speech, Consul General Yan noted the high confidence of sister provinces from both countries in deepening exchanges and win-win cooperation, and pledged continued assistance from the consulate general in promoting friendship and cooperation between the two sides. He believed that the dialogue would further enhance mutual understanding and tap cooperation potential of both sides, and called for greater synergy between the development plans of the sister provinces so as to achieve more stable, diversified and win-win cooperation.

 

 

Deputy Director General Huang Shaorong reviewed the friendly relationship between Fujian and Ceará, and called on the two provinces, taking the 20th anniversary of the sister province relationship as an opportunity, to expand practical cooperation, improve cooperation mechanism by underpinning the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution innovation center in Xiamen and enhance people-to-people ties through more online cultural performance and art exhibitions.

 

Ceará International Relations Secretary Cesar Ribeiro spoke highly of China’s Covid response and its contribution to global fight. He thanked Fujian’s help to Ceará in combating the virus, and invited Fujian delegations to visit Ceará at the end of pandemic.

 

 

A handover ceremony of 100,000 disposal medical masks donated by Fujian to Ceará was also held at meeting.
