Under the aegis of the Chinese Consulate General in Recife, Brazil, Fujian and Ceará held an online meeting to discuss higher education cooperation on November 11, as part of the activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Fujian-Ceará sister province relationship.

Chinese Consul General in Recife, Yan Yuqing, Deputy Director of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Huang Shaorong, representatives of the education departments and the higher education institutions from both sides attended the event.

Both sides recognized the importance and potential of education cooperation in boosting innovation and enriching the friendly relationship, and reached the understanding on cooperation in basic scientific research, technical personnel training and vocational education.

Prior to the meeting, with the help of the Consulate General and relevant departments from both sides, Fujian Normal University, Fujian Polytechnic Normal University, Xiamen Ocean Vocational College and the Federal University of Ceará and Ceará State University have established contacts, and are in close communication on cooperation in such fields as mathematics, food science, applied chemistry, computer communication engineering, biomedicine, functional food and biological products. Cooperation in basic research on osteoporosis and nursing will be also explored.
