With a view to deepening friendship and cooperation, Fujian held a video conference with the Canton Schwyz, Switzerland on May 23. Among the attendees were Zheng Jianmin, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, Andreas Barraud, former Landammann, Government Councillor, Head of the Department of National Economy of the Canton Schwyz, Zhao Qinghua, Chinese Consul General in Zurich, and heads of relevant departments from both sides.

Both government leaders briefed the conference on the latest developments in their region respectively, and reached the understanding on furthering friendship through stronger cooperation in such fields as machinery manufacturing, digital economy, and life sciences. Economy and tourism were also highlighted as promising sectors of mutual complementarity.

Such complementarity, as Consul General Zhao Qinghua noted, should be capitalized on, so that both can explore new ways of cooperation at the sub-national level and lead the way in friendly exchanges between the two countries.

Relevant departments from both regions also discussed plans for scaling up cooperation.
